Kick scooter or scooter in Tangier: which one for which ride
An electric kick scooter and a seated scooter do different jobs. Tangier distances, hills and cobbles — what each one handles, and what we rent.
Straight out: we do not rent kick scooters. We rent seated electric scooters with two seats. The question comes up often enough, so here is the honest comparison — with Tangier distances, not generalities.
What a kick scooter is good at
An electric kick scooter is light, parks anywhere and costs less. On the flat and over two or three kilometres it is a fine tool. For the medina to the municipal beach along the Corniche, it is plenty.

Where Tangier makes it hard
The problem is not the kick scooter, it is the ground. Tangier climbs. The Kasbah is cobbled and often ends in a staircase. The Cap Spartel road goes uphill for thirteen kilometres and the tour coaches use it too. A kick scooter runs out of its depth there: small wheels on cobbles, range melting on the climbs, and a speed that does not belong on a road where cars do 60.

The four differences that matter here
- The hills: a 1500 W motor climbs towards Rmilat and Cap Spartel without slowing; a city kick scooter does not.
- Two up: the scooter seats two and comes with a second helmet. A kick scooter is a one-person machine.
- Your things: the top case swallows a beach bag. On a kick scooter everything rides on your back.
- Distance: our scooters do about 60 km on a charge. A return trip to Cap Spartel takes 45 % of it.
What about a licence?
That is the good news, and it holds for both: our electric scooters need no driving licence, from age 18, with an ID. So you gain nothing by taking a kick scooter to dodge the paperwork — there is none.

Those rides are why we rent what we rent. The price does not move with the distance: a day costs the same whether you go to the municipal beach or to the end of the peninsula.
