What an electric scooter costs in Tangier, and what is included
Four tariffs, one deposit, cash: 50 DH an hour, 150 DH half a day, 250 DH for 24 hours, 1,400 DH a week. What the price actually covers.
The price list is four lines long and there is no fifth one. Here is what it costs, what the price covers, and what to budget on top.
The four tariffs
- One hour — 50 DH
- Half a day, up to 6 hours — 150 DH
- One day, 24 hours — 250 DH
- One week, 7 days — 1,400 DH
Per hour, the day works out at about ten dirhams and the week at 200 DH a day against 250 DH at the daily rate. That is the only real discount in the table: the longer you keep the scooter, the less a day costs. The prices shown on the home page are the current ones and are the ones that count.
A day means 24 hours
Not "9am to 8pm". A scooter picked up at 5pm is yours until 5pm the next day. That changes a lot: the evening ride along the Corniche is included, and you can charge overnight at the hotel before setting off again in the morning.
The deposit
1,000 DH in cash at handover, given back when the scooter comes back. It is not a charge, it is a deposit. Budget for it on top of the rental, in cash: card payment has been announced but is not running yet.
What is included
- The helmet, with every scooter.
- The scooter charged to 100 %, range about 60 km.
- Delivery in Tangier, or pick-up at the shop on Place des Nations.
- No fuel to pay for: charging is from a normal socket and takes 4 to 5 hours.
What is not included
Entrance fees — the Caves of Hercules and the Kasbah Museum are paid on the spot, in cash — and whatever you eat and drink on the way. Keep some small notes on you; it makes everything easier.
Which tariff for which ride
- Cap Spartel and the caves in an afternoon: half a day, 150 DH, is plenty.
- Tangier in one day including Cap Malabata: the day, 250 DH, and you keep the evening.
- A week's stay: 1,400 DH, that is 200 DH a day — the scooter stays outside the hotel.
- An hour at 50 DH is for a trial run or a trip to the Corniche and back, not for an outing.
Book ahead, especially in summer
There are five scooters, all the same model, a black or grey eMove JY1500. You do not pick the colour, you get the one that is free — and in July and August there is not always one free on the same day. We are open every day from 9am to 10pm.
